Dehydrated Maize
Compared to sun drying process, Maize dehydration reduces nutritional wastes (leaves, protein, vitamins) and prevents microbiotic contamination due to exposure to rain, dew or soil condition.
Maize contains around 50% of cellular walls and balanced composition of fibre (8% of pectines, 10% of hemicellulose, 25% of celulose and 7% of lignine). Therefore, it guarantees fast digestive passage, relevant supply of soluble fibre and high tampon capability. These factors, together with its high palatability, make alfalfa become a critical ingredient in cattle feeding.
Maize, as other leguminous plants, contains anti-nutritional factors, among which saponines and soluble tanins are the most important.
